The 24th annual Bank of the West Celebrates America free summer concert and fireworks show is scheduled for Friday in Memorial Park.
The concert will last from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and will be followed by a fireworks finale.
The event will feature Blues Traveler, Sugar Ray, Smash Mouth and Uncle Kracker. The Talbott Brothers from Omaha, who won the Bank of the West Celebrates America Opening Band Contest, will kick off the concert.
Memorial Park opens at 5 a.m. on Friday, for those who want to place blankets in advance of the concert. For the safety of those attending the concert, the City of Omaha prohibits the placement of plastic tarps or stakes in the ground at Memorial Park.
The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) will allow people attending the event to use its parking facilities. UNO’s regular lots and the multi-level parking garage will be available after 4 p.m. on that day. Those parking at UNO should use the pedestrian overpass when crossing Dodge Street.
