Randy Travis is paying tribute to the artists who inspired him on his new album, Influence Vol. 1: The Man I Am.
The disc features songs originally made famous by such legends as George Jones, Merle Haggard, Ernest Tubb, and Waylon Jennings.
Travis, who continues to recover from a stroke he suffered in July, says his Grand Ole Opry induction enabled him to get to know Roy Acuff, Minnie Pearl, Little Jimmy Dickens, and other pioneering country music stars.
Travis adds that with the album he's not only honoring country's past stars, but trying to keep their legacies alive. He's also hoping to share some of country music's history with today's younger stars and fans.
Influence Vol. 1: The Man I Am is in stores now.
